Ferrous Processing and Trading (FPT) is one of North America’s premier processors, buyers, sellers and recyclers of scrap metals of all kinds and is a key supplier to the metals industry of North America. FPT, a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs, has an immediate opportunity for a Welder at our Schlafer operation. The welder is responsible for repairs, fabricating, and assembling custom-designed equipment.
Summary of Responsibilities :
- Welds metal parts together using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes
- Read blueprints and drawings
- Take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
- Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
- Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures to discover flaws
- Proficiency with essential machine tools
- Maintain equipment that does not compromise safety while fully complying with approved safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned
