Job description
InfraHire is hiring an : Estimator for Utility and Site Work

- Prepare thorough and timely heavy civil construction estimates for utility and site work projects (public and private agencies), including quantity takeoffs and solicitation of bids using HCSS estimating software.
- Read and analyze all bid RFQ/RFP documentation to fully understand project scope and requirements.
- Research and review construction documents and specifications relevant to the project.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for all civil, utility, and site work components.
- Solicit and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
- Analyze and evaluate sub/vendor bids and finalize quotations for inclusion in estimates.
- Ensure all relevant estimating documents and budgets are completed and submitted prior to bid deadlines.
- Visit project sites as necessary to gather information for accurate estimating.
- Create and manage lists of appropriate subcontractors and suppliers for each project.
- Assist in preparing and submitting comprehensive bid proposals.
- Attend owner meetings during the estimate development phase.
- Prepare detailed project schedules using industry-standard software (P6, Microsoft Project).
- Develop schematic plans or sketches to communicate estimating approach and strategies.
- Collaborate with other estimators on large or complex projects as needed.
- Maintain strong organization, communication, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Utilize expert knowledge (or rapidly learn) HCSS estimating software.
- Exhibit strong business acumen, interpersonal, and time management skills.
- Meet all qualification requirements including BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, minimum 5 years' experience in heavy civil construction and estimating, and specific experience in NY/NJ public works projects.
- Demonstrate knowledge of NYSDOT, NYCDDC, NYCDEP specifications and contracts (preferred).
- Have a strong desire to grow within the estimating department and lead multiple projects when necessary.
- Ability to work remotely as required and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
