Project Coordinator

Location: Hybrid, Roanoke, VA or Indianapolis, IN

Our client is expanding a high-visibility function focused on improving how complex customer initiatives move from incoming request to internal execution. This is an opportunity to join a newly formed team where technical curiosity, cross-functional coordination, and customer communication all play an important role. The person in this role will help bring structure to fast-moving work, translate product-related information into actionable next steps, and support projects that directly influence customer experience and business growth. The position offers broad exposure across sales, sourcing, operations, and customer support, along with strong long-term career development potential.

Focus

  • Translate customer-supplied product data, drawings, and item records into clear internal requirements for sourcing and launch readiness.
  • Review incoming project requests, identify missing technical details, and help determine the best path to move opportunities forward.
  • Partner with sales, sourcing, operations, and customer stakeholders to keep implementation work organized, aligned, and on schedule.
  • Support new account onboarding and expansion efforts by coordinating timelines, status updates, and issue resolution across teams.
  • Use industry knowledge and specification awareness to spot data gaps, clarify product needs, and reduce downstream delays.
  • Help organize multiple customer-driven projects at once while maintaining accuracy, responsiveness, and a strong service mindset.
  • Contribute to process improvements that simplify handoffs, increase visibility, and improve execution quality across the business.

Skill Set

  • Experience in industrial distribution, fasteners, hardware, sourcing, quoting, supply chain, or a related technical product environment.
  • Strong ability to read drawings, specifications, part records, and other technical customer inputs with a high level of accuracy.
  • Comfort working directly with customers and internal partners to clarify needs, manage expectations, and keep work moving.
  • Proven success balancing several priorities at once in a deadline-driven operational environment.
  • Technical fluency with product identification, standards, and specification-driven work.
  • ERP familiarity is helpful, and strong Excel skills are valuable.
  • Clear communication skills and sound judgment.
  • Experience-first mindset, with industry background weighed more heavily than degree pedigree.
