Job description
Responsibilities

Biostatistician

This position supports the physician residents and fellows in the Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs across UHS, with primary focus in the Southern California region. This position will report to the Director of Research for GME, and the candidate will collaborate closely with residents and fellows to design, analyze, and interpret research data while ensuring high-quality outcomes.

  • Provide statistical consultation and expertise to residents and fellows on research projects.
  • Assist in designing study protocols and statistical analysis plans.
  • Perform data management, data cleaning, and statistical analyses using software such as R, SAS, or SPSS.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for conferences and publications.
  • Train and mentor residents and fellows in basic and advanced biostatistical methods.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory guidelines in research.
Qualifications

Education/Training/Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field required; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Proven experience, with a minimum of two years, in statistical analysis in a healthcare or academic setting, required.
  • Experience in clinical research and familiarity with medical terminology, preferred.
  • Previous teaching or mentoring experience, preferred.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS) required
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts to non-statisticians required
  • Strong organizational and mentoring skills required
  • Occasional driving/travel to SoCal MEC hospitals required
