Job description

Transportation Coordinator

The Transportation Coordinator position provides critical support to the Food Procurement & Transportation Manager (FPRM). Specifically, the Transportation Coordinator supports the transportation team, grocery rescue program, and internal logistics. This includes covering for driver absences, providing key fleet management support and adherence to maintenance and repair program standards, and helping to maintain efficiency of FBLC transportation across Larimer County.

Essential Functions

This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties or responsibilities associated with the job. Other job-related duties may be assigned.

  • Support the Transportation team as needed (minimum 50% of time), including regularly covering routes across all three FBLC locations, sometimes with minimal notice.
  • Lead fleet maintenance and repair efforts, including communicating with Operations management and organizational leadership to convey needs and find solutions that work within existing budget constraints.
  • Set the tone for the Transportation team culture as it relates to the broader operations teams and the rest of the organization, centering professionalism, flexibility, and compliance with all regulations, safety programs, and organizational values.
  • Support the Food Procurement & Transportation Manager (FPRM) in all daily operations, including but not limited to:
    • Occasional periodic reporting.
    • Logistical triage in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
    • Occasional paperwork, including but not limited to fleet records, temperature and receiving records, and safety reporting forms.
    • Assist with record-keeping in order to maintain compliance with DOT and other regulatory agencies.
    • Assist with budget development, maintenance and reporting as requested by FPRM.
    • Act as interim FPRM during periods of absence.
  • Assist Operations in main warehouse as needed.
  • Maintain adherence to FBLC safety, OSHA, and food safety standards, prioritizing safety for oneself and others, including when operating company equipment or vehicles.
  • When representing the organization in local, state, and regional collaborations, take care to embody organizational values.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Education & Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required, but higher education with a focus in supply chain management or relevant field preferred.

Pre-Employment Screening Requirements:

  • Successful completion of all pre-screening requirements.
  • Passing of the WorkSTEPS job-specific test.
  • 21+ years of age and possession of a valid U.S. Driver's License with a good driving record, as confirmed through an MVR check.

Language Skills & Ability: Proficiency in English required, bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.

Computer Skills:

  • Prefer experience with Inventory and Project Management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online technologies is essential.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct reports but may support the FPRM by acting in a lead role for FBLC drivers. Responsibilities include delegating tasks, assisting with conflict resolution between drivers and third parties at the FPRM's request, and helping resolve truck-related issues both on-site and in the field.

Work Environment: Regularly works in both warehouse and truck driving settings with regular outdoor exposure in all seasons, in and around vehicles, and has frequent exposure to public and private, non-FBLC warehouse environments, such as grocery retailer receiving areas.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear with or without aid, walk for short or extended periods of time, stand for short or extended periods of time, sit for short and extended periods of time, kneel, crouch, crawl, stoop, bend repeatedly, pull, reach above the shoulder with hands and arms, regularly use hands to finger, grasp, handle, feel, pull, climb stairs or ladders, step up and down at least 29 inches, balance, write, count, read, analyze, alphabetize, and frequently lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 55 lbs., frequently push or pull objects up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Local travel between the 3 organizational sites is the primary expectation during business hours, with occasional visits to partner sites (Greeley, Red Feather Lakes, Estes, etc.). Mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related travel.
