Job description

Analyst for DIU's Business Intelligence and Due Diligence Team

Riverside Research is an independent National Security Nonprofit dedicated to research and development in the national interest. We provide high-end technical services, research and development, and prototype solutions to some of the country's most challenging technical problems. All Riverside Research opportunities require U.S. Citizenship.

The Analyst for DIU's Business Intelligence and Due Diligence team plays a critical role in safeguarding the DIU's brand integrity, compliance, and strategic positioning. This position is tailored for an ambitious professional with a foundational experience in all source analysis, open-source intelligence (OSINT), corporate investigations, and national security risk management.

The successful candidate will conduct thorough investigative research, analyze complex corporate structures, and assess risks related to Foreign Ownership, Control, or Influence (FOCI), Acquisition Security, and Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) standards. This role bridges the gap between raw corporate data and actionable business intelligence, directly supporting executive decision-making, global supply chain vetting, and federal compliance mandates.

This position can be located in either Mountain View, CA or at the Pentagon, VA.

1. Due Diligence & Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT)

  • Conduct comprehensive investigative research on prospective partners, suppliers, third-party vendors, and high-net-worth entities to identify signals of foreign malign influence; and regulatory, legal, reputational, and financial risks.
  • Utilize sophisticated OSINT methodologies, public records, commercial databases, and international registries to map out Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) structures and identify Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) or sanctioned entities.
  • Synthesize large, disparate data sets into highly structured, clear, and legally defensible due diligence reports under tight deadlines.

2. Acquisition Security Compliance & National Security Risk Mitigation

  • Support the administration and work flows of DIU's Business Intelligence & Due Diligence/ Acquisition Security program in alignment with DoDI 5000.83 (Technology and Program Protection to Maintain Technological Advantage) and the America First Investment Policy. Assist in preparing, updating, and reviewing acquisition security and national security due diligence related records including various internal and external federal and Department of War acquisition security holdings. Evaluate supply chain vulnerabilities by assessing technology vendors and subcontractors for potential illicit foreign influence or data sovereignty concerns.

3. Business Intelligence & Market Insights

  • Monitor national and global markets and international business developments to ensure current understanding and awareness of where economic and national security risks are present.
  • Perform competitive intelligence and market mapping to identify emerging trends, mergers and acquisitions activity, and competitive threats within target sectors.
  • Analyze complex corporate balance sheets, SEC filings, and foreign corporate registries to extract strategic insights regarding competitor footprints and investment strategies.
  • Maintain internal dashboards and threat matrix databases ensuring intelligence feeds remain current and accurate.

Qualifications

Typically 16 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 8 years of experience with a Master's degree in a technical (e.g. science, math, or engineering field), business (e.g. business administration, business management, law) or public policy discipline relevant to the field of national security. Relevant work history might be considered as a substitute.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Intelligence Studies, Business/Finance, Criminology, or a related analytical discipline.
  • Experience: 6 years of professional experience in project management; and supporting economic, financial, or national security issues through the conduct of, but not limited to, corporate due diligence, compliance, venture capital risk consulting, federal contracting, or investigative intelligence.
  • Tooling Proficiency: Direct hands-on experience using public records databases and risk intelligence tools.
  • Analytical Capability: Demonstrated ability to read corporate structures, distinguish between legal and beneficial ownership, and follow complex transnational asset trails.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of writing precise, objective, and analytical briefs for executive or legal audiences.
  • Clearance: Must have a current TS/SCI

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with CFIUS regulations, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or NISPOM standards.
  • Professional certifications relevant to risk and intelligence (e.g., CAMS - Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, CFE - Certified Fraud Examiner, or specialized OSINT certifications).
  • All source intelligence analyst training through formal U.S. Federal or DoW Intelligence training academies.
  • Familiarity of federal and/or DoW counterintelligence components, policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge and experience of DoW IC reporting, databases and associated systems.

Global Comp

$150,000 - $200,000 This represents the typical compensation range for this position based on experience, location and other factors.
