The position available is for a Senior Auditor at our location in Cleveland, OH. As part of the Audit and Assurance Services team, the Senior Accountant will take on the role of leading and supporting various clients, particularly within the not-for-profit sector. Responsibilities include delegating and overseeing audit assignments, reviewing completed work and financial statements, providing suggestions for improvement, and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations.
The ideal candidate will leverage their knowledge of accounting principles to guide clients and their bookkeeping staff towards adherence to accounting standards. Time management is essential, as the successful candidate will develop time budgets for previous work and ensure timely completion of subsequent tasks.
Essential Functions
- Perform diverse accounting and auditing tasks under supervision
- Plan, schedule, and supervise client engagements to meet deadlines
- Communicate with clients to obtain necessary information efficiently
- Direct and instruct staff for assigned work and review engagement workpapers
- Prepare workpapers and perform procedures to verify financial accuracy
- Responsible for various accounting tasks and preparing audit reports
- Represent the firm at recruitment fairs and mentor interns
- Develop industry contacts, meet prospective clients, and cultivate referral business
- Position requires 70% local travel
Competencies
- Demonstrate technical skills, work quality, and adherence to professional standards
- Possess sufficient technical knowledge to supervise staff or work independently
- Understand the process to develop client relationships and loyalty
- Familiarity with accounting principles, GAAP, and financial statement presentations
- Self-motivated work ethic and quick turnaround on tasks
- Experience with not-for-profit organizations and community service
- Entrepreneurial approach to client service and positive working relationships
- Comfortable presenting workshops and training sessions
Experience and Technical Requirements
- 3-4 years of public accounting experience with increasing complexity
- Experience with CCH Engagement, Creative Solutions Fixed Assets, and QuickBooks
Educational and Licensure Requirements
- Current Ohio CPA license or CPA-eligible
- Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting from an accredited institution
