Job Description
We are seeking a skilled PLC Programmer to support our 2GT production lines and repackaging operations. This role is critical in ensuring the successful execution of a process conversion project involving UK packaging standards and rework inspection processes. The engineer will be involved in both legacy and new equipment, with a strong focus on PLC programming, process improvement, and automation support.
Responsibilities
- Provide controls engineering support for 2GT legacy equipment and repackaging areas, which handle approximately 50% of production.
- Assist in the process conversion and rework inspection workflows for UK packaging.
- Participate in an intensive 3–4 month training program to become proficient with equipment and systems.
- Support ongoing automation projects, including a recently approved initiative.
- Work with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley Ladder Logic, Siemens Step 7), Wonderware HMI, servo drives/motors, and APT-Siemens-based systems.
- Modify and develop new control code to enhance machine functionality and performance.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Allen-Bradley, Siemens Step 7).
- Experience with HMI systems, especially Wonderware.
- Familiarity with servo systems, APT-Siemens, and legacy equipment integration.
- Strong documentation and process improvement skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in regulated industries (., medical devices, pharmaceuticals).
- Knowledge of change control documentation and validation protocols.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to evolving project scopes.
Work Environment
The work environment is a mix of onsite, involving both manufacturing floor and office settings.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $47.00/hr.
