Job description

Pricing Specialist

The Pricing Specialist is responsible for pricing and supporting quotes for new and current clients. The Pricing Specialist interacts with Sales, Solutions, Account Management, and Executive teams regularly. This individual serves a critical role in identifying cost savings to our customers and profitability of our company. After initially training, this role will offer a hybrid work schedule of two days per week from our home office in Parkville and three days per week worked from home.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Input pricing agreements, proposals, and data into system
  • Maintain carrier contracts
  • Maintain quoting and invoicing guidelines
  • Communicate with carrier(s) to report bill discrepancies
  • Work to resolve carrier issues
  • Act as internal point of contact for rate-related questions
  • Understand internal systems and how they interact
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Specific Department Responsibilities:

  • Maintain knowledge of applicable pricing agreements and protocols
  • Knowledgeable of transportation and logistics

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently while balancing appropriate collaboration with leadership oversight
  • Ability to effectively interact with Sales, Solutions, Account Management, and Executive teams
  • Excellent customer service, time management, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in person and via phone
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and explain complex and abstract issues and respond appropriately
  • Excellent follow-through and detail orientation
  • Able to effectively utilize computer programs including Word and Excel and agency management system
  • Ability to work with a variety of people and personality styles
  • Able to work within a fast-paced team environment
  • Work overtime as necessary to meet customer needs

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience will be considered but not required

Cognitive/Mental Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to comprehend and use basic language, either written or spoken, to communicate simple and complex information, ideas, and information. The employee is also required to use logic to define problems, collect information, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, interpret information, and deal with abstract variables for unique or unfamiliar situations. The employee must use problem-solving skills to formulate and apply appropriate courses of action for routine or familiar situations. The employee may be required to perform numerical operations including basic counting, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing or more complex quantitative calculations.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is inside a central heat and air-conditioned office building. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
