Purpose Of The Role
Under general supervision, the Accounting Analyst I performs various professional accounting duties including maintenance and analysis of accounting records, preparation of accounting schedules and reports, prepares journal entries and reconciles ledger accounts; ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, CDA policies, procedures, and contracts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Code and pay vendor invoices by verifying transaction information.
- Schedule and prepare disbursements to vendors and providers.
- Maintain provider payment ledger and reconcile differences.
- Maintain accounting ledgers by posting account transactions.
- Resolve account discrepancies by investigating documentation; issue stop?payments, payments, or adjustments.
- Perform banking and other financial activities on a regular basis.
- Verify accounts by reconciling statements and transactions.
- Prepare program, benefit and financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information.
- Maintain financial security by following internal accounting controls.
- Maintain financial history records by filing accounting documents.

Minimum Qualifications
Education, training, and / or experience that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities listed above. A Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Accounting and / or related field and 1?3 years of professional accounting experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of CDAs goals and objectives, vision, mission, and values, along with a strong understanding of GAAP, general accounting principles, financial reporting, and clerical accounting methods, forms, and techniques. Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with diverse stakeholders while demonstrating professional telephone, office, and online etiquette.
Skill in evaluating financial data, exercising sound judgment, recommending corrective actions, reconciling record?keeping differences and related transactions, and understanding the relationships among accounting and statistical records and documents. Proficiency in operating computers, calculators, and standard office equipment, as well as using various computerized financial systems and adapting to system changes.
Ability to read, understand, and follow written directives and oral instructions, communicate with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds, and remain calm, tactful, and diplomatic in sensitive or adverse situations. Demonstrated judgment in responding to inquiries, releasing information appropriately, and analyzing the potential impact of decisions or recommendations. Familiarity with nonprofit contract compliance is preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain strict confidentiality.
Proficient use of office equipment, such as copy and fax machines, calculators, scanners, phone system, and file cabinets in a safe manner; use of Adobe and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; experience creating complex financial systems including expertise in Excel; proficient writing skills and keen attention to detail.
Work Environment
Office environment; exposure to computer screens and other basic office equipment; the noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. This position also requires commitment to work under strict timelines and schedules in order to meet compliance requirements.
Physical Requirements
Continuous : upward and downward flexion of the neck; frequent : sitting, repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers; occasional : walking, standing, bending, and twisting of neck, bending and twisting of waist, squatting, grasping, reaching above and below shoulder level, and lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
Work Schedule
Full?time, Monday Friday, 40 hours per week, typically 8 : 30 am to 5 : 00 pm. May require evening and weekend hours based on the needs of the program.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule of up to twenty?four (24) hours remote and sixteen (16) hours in?office per week following the successful completion of training. Remote work is not guaranteed and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time based on business and operational needs. In?person attendance may be required for trainings, meetings, or other agency?related purposes.
