Direct reports to the Nurse Manager Surgical Services include charge nurses, staff RNs, surgical technologists, endoscopy and anesthesia techs, and sterile processing leaders. The Nurse Manager Surgical Services collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, perioperative business office and scheduling, materials management, infection prevention, and quality teams to ensure seamless surgical services operations.
Within the perioperative service line, the Nurse Manager Surgical Services oversees multiple OR suites supporting general, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, ENT, and GI procedures, along with endoscopy and a busy PACU. The Nurse Manager Surgical Services leads a professional, supportive team environment known for timely room turnovers, on-time starts, and strong interdisciplinary communication. The Nurse Manager Surgical Services partners with highly engaged surgeons, experienced RNs, certified surgical technologists, and SPD professionals invested in clinical excellence.
Clinically, the Nurse Manager Surgical Services drives competency validation, ongoing education, and coaching for perioperative staff while advancing evidence-based practice, patient safety, and quality outcomes (e.g., SSI reduction, SCIP adherence, safe surgery checklists). Administratively, the Nurse Manager Surgical Services stewards staffing and scheduling, budget and productivity, block time optimization, surgeon relations, and vendor/materials oversight to support efficient case flow. The Nurse Manager Surgical Services ensures regulatory readiness and compliance with AORN standards, The Joint Commission, CMS, and state requirements, while standardizing policies, metrics dashboards, and continuous performance improvement.
