Job Summary
Please note this will be 90% effort (three 12-hour shifts per week) at Mission Bay campus.
The OB Technician works closely with the Charge Nurse to meet unit needs as changes occur throughout the shift. The OB Technician works closely with the labor nurse setting up rooms, assisting with positioning during epidural placement, during second stage of labor and at time of delivery. The OB Technician assists the RN immediately after delivery and during entire recovery period under RN supervision. May help in transporting patients as needed.
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the OB Technician also assists in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of supplies and equipment in the Birth Center. Functions as a member of the surgical team during operative procedures and adheres to OR and unit based policies.
The OB Technician is accountable to clinical and administrative nursing staff of the unit. The OB Technician will demonstrate competence in performing the duties and responsibilities required by his / her job.

Department Description
UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. - Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR for healthcare providers.
