We are looking for a Robotics Technician to join our R&D team in Boise, ID. The Robotics Technician will assist in developing new technologies as determined by Bastian Solutions management. Time frames for prototypes will be project managed and need to be functionally and aesthetically pleasing as we plan to demonstrate these new technologies to our customers. Projects will be confidential through the pilot project as not to impact our current relationships with partner manufacturers. This position works directly with the Robotic Shuttle manager and various team leads.
Job Functions:
- Repair and rework PCBs by removing/replacing components, cutting traces, etc.
- Assists engineers in proto-typing and documenting component and system revisions
- Electrical CAD drafting experience with industry standard tools such as AutoCAD Electrical
- Create assembly, wiring, and build documentation
- 3D printer management and maintenance
- Limited machining and fabrication
- Proactively order lab supplies as needed to support all projects
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Read blueprints or technical diagrams
- Install and maintain wiring for autonomous systems
- Inspect electrical components and identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
- Repair or replace wiring and equipment using hand tools and power tools
- Maintain a safe and organized workspace
Superior Qualifications
- Knowledge of PLCs, industrial robots, safety rated equipment, encoders, networking, circuits, AC/DC motors and motor controllers, etc.
- Understanding of automated equipment and systems, panel design, firmware design, regulatory practices and schematics
- Some experience with panel design experience, hands on and mechanical capabilities, controls project management experience
- Experience with machine vision and material handling a plus
Travel Requirements:
- 10% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a Robotics Technician, Electrical Engineering Technician, or equivalent position.
- Associates degree in Electrical Engineering a plus
- Soldering
- Demonstrable experience working with Altium, AutoCAD or similar electrical design/simulation solution.
- Comfortable with tools of the trade (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, power monitoring systems)
- Working experience with robotics industry technologies (PLC’s, motors, servos, motor controllers, power circuits, RFID, encoders, sensors etc.…)
- Basic understanding of electrical theory and circuit design
- Effective at integrating off the shelf electrical component systems and or designing custom solutions as needed.
- Creative, out of the box thinking
- Very strong technically
- Ability to focus and move quickly through the available options.
- Enjoys technology and how it can be applied to real world applications.
