Job Description

Job Title : Mammography Technologist

Profession : Mammography Technologist

Experience : Minimum of 2 years

License : Required

Certifications : ARRT, BLS Certification

Must-Have :

Must have 3-4 years of experience in mammography.

Must have completed at least 1-2 contracts.

Description :

Department : Radiology - Mammography.

General Certification Requirements : BLS Certification, ARRT, and Mammography certification.

The department performs standard screening and diagnostic procedures.

Screening includes patients with implants and those with special needs such as wheelchair users and walkers.

Diagnosis includes breast scans and possibly procedures.

Daily average of 14 diagnostic scans performed.

Screening averages between 18-25 scans per 10-hour shift.

EMR system in use is EPIC.

PACS system is in use.

Equipment includes Hologic for screening and diagnostic procedures and a Hologic prone biopsy table with a Bravera biopsy device.

A lead technician is available but may not be onsite during all shifts.

Images are batch read and reported out later.

No IV starts are required in this department.

Shifts vary; for screening, typical hours are 7 : 30 AM - 4 : 00 PM and for diagnostic, shifts typically range from 7 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM or 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM.

Scrubs of any color are allowed as long as they are clean and professional.

Unit-specific orientation may comprise 2-3 shifts in addition to general orientation.
