FiberTel is looking for an HDD Operator for our Albuquerque, NM location. A successful HDD Operator is specially trained and has expertise in locating for horizontal / directional drill rigs and product support equipment. This individual will be primarily responsible for setting up and completing drilling variable-sized underground boreholes and pulling back the required conduit / pipe. As a Directional Driller / Equipment Operator, you are responsible for running various directional drilling equipment; Directional Drill, (Vermeer and / or Ditch Witch) Vac. Truck, Mud Truck, Excavator, Forklift, Dump truck, Locator, along with others not listed.

Pay : $26-35 / hr, DOE

Responsibilities :

• All phases of telecommunication construction include but are not limited to : loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment.
• Locate for Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
• Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.
• Operate Horizontal Directional Drill
• Assist in potholing and remediation.
• Assist with setting hand holes and completing tie-ins.
• Ability to read and comprehend utility locates.
• Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.
• Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.
• Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.
• Oversee laborers and / or crew members work and monitor time usage.
• Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle / equipment to assure your vehicle / equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.
• Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, crew time logs etc.)
• Follows specifications for the job and company policies.
• Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.
• Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.
