Job Summary

Manage and maintain the college’s Linux server environment within a virtualized environment. This role involves deploying new servers, automating routine tasks, configuring networks, managing upgrades and patches, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring system security. Act as the primary resource for the department’s Linux environment and support the college’s user provisioning and identity management processes.

Essential Duties

Manage Linux server infrastructure within a virtualized environment, perform software upgrades, apply patches, and resolve server vulnerabilities.

Automate repetitive tasks and processes using scripting or tools like Ansible.

Troubleshoot and manage identity management processes.

Maintain accurate records and documentation.

Participate in various projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent education in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or appropriate field of study. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

3 years working hands on with virtualization technologies.

3 years of related experience specifically related to Linux Server Administration.

Ability to perform duties on one’s own initiative with limited supervision.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a proven ability to interact with others.

Proficiency in writing database reports with SQL and proficiency in one of the followingprogramming languages (Python, PHP, Java, PL / SQL).

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or appropriate field of study. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

Experience Integrating Systems; familiarity with middleware (Apache Tomcat, Weblogic, Jboss); experience with ERP Systems; ERP AR / Finance module experience; experience usingEllucian's Banner ERP or Colleague; and proficiency working in Linux OS.
