Base pay range

$145,000.00 / yr - $165,000.00 / yr

Responsibilities

A Kforce client is seeking a Director of Tax to join their accounting and finance team in Emeryville, CA. Summary : This key leadership role requires strong expertise in corporate income tax, along with exceptional communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to lead teams, drive process improvements, and deliver strategic insights that enhance business performance within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required

Public Accounting experience and a CPA license or equivalent accounting qualification required

At least 7 to 11 years of large public company tax and accounting experience at either a Big 4 public accounting firm or in‑house with a large public company

Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively

Direct experience from Big 4 or industry specifically working with large public companies

Experienced with ASC740 / provision, state, international, etc.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal teams and external service providers

Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tax‑related documents and filings

Proactive in identifying and implementing process improvements

Strong experience in public company tax provision and compliance preferred

Familiarity with tax systems is preferred

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
