Business Analyst
At Vast, our mission is to contribute to a future where billions of people are living and thriving in space. Vast is developing next-generation space stations to ensure a continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy for government, corporate, and private customers. Using an incremental, hardware-rich and low-cost approach, Vast is rapidly developing its multi-module Haven Station. Haven Demo's 2025 success made Vast the only operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world's first commercial space station when it launches, followed by additional Haven modules to enable permanent human presence by 2030. Our team is all-in, committed to executing our mission safely and on time. If you want to work with the most talented people on Earth furthering space exploration for humanity, come join us.
Vast is looking for a Business Analyst, reporting to the Strategic Finance Manager, to support the development of the systems required for the design and build of artificial-gravity, human-rated space stations.
The Business Analyst will play a key part in the company's budgeting, forecasting, and analysis in support of our engineering and manufacturing organizations, providing critical insights that help guide senior leadership decision-making. The position also supports engineering and manufacturing teams through rigorous program-level analysis and clear communication of results.
The ideal candidate is a highly analytical, detail-oriented professional with moderate to strong financial skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both senior leaders and technical stakeholders. This opportunity offers meaningful exposure to executive leadership and engineering / manufacturing teams and is well-suited for someone early in their career who is looking to grow into either more technical or strategic roles.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities :
- Partner closely with engineering leadership to support planning, execution, and delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary hardware programs
- Develop and maintain analytical models related to program cost, schedule, resourcing, and execution scenarios
- Support annual and rolling forecasts for engineering programs, including headcount, vendor spend, and capital needs
- Conduct ad hoc technical, financial, and operational analyses to inform program and leadership decision-making
- Act as an analytical point of contact across engineering, finance, supply chain, and program leadership to ensure alignment on scope, priorities, and constraints
- Track program status, risks, and dependencies; synthesize inputs into clear, executive-ready updates
- Prepare concise presentations and written materials for engineering leadership, finance, and executive stakeholders
- Support resource planning efforts to ensure engineering programs are adequately staffed and sequenced
- Establish and maintain standardized reports and dashboards to improve visibility into program health
- Identify inefficiencies in existing tools, processes, or reporting and drive improvements in partnership with stakeholders
- Maintain clear documentation, notes, and assumptions to ensure continuity and transparency across teams
