Job description

Social Media Manager

ACE Scholarships is seeking a seasoned Social Media Manager to own the day-to-day strategy, content and community management for all organizational social channels and to elevate our CEO as a national thought leader on educational freedom and school choice.

If you're someone with a strong journalistic or professional writing background who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, this role is for you. You will be the primary voice of ACE on social media, crafting compelling stories that highlight scholar success, donor impact, policy wins and the power of parent empowerment. You will also build and maintain the CEO's professional presence across platforms to position him as a go-to expert in the education-reform space.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and optimize a comprehensive weekly/monthly content calendar aligned with organizational priorities, campaigns, events and timely education news
  • Create high-quality, original content (posts, captions, threads, video scripts, graphics briefs, etc.) that drives engagement, donations, scholarship applications and advocacy
  • Manage and grow ACE's main organizational accounts: X (@ACEscholarships), Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn
  • Build and manage the CEO's professional social presence (primarily LinkedIn and X, with support on others) to establish him as a leading voice on school choice, education policy and opportunity for low-income families
  • Draft thought-leadership posts, video messages, and interview recaps; develop and coordinate ghostwriting and approval processes
  • Attend key events for in-person appearances alongside the CEO to provide real-time social media coverage; ghostwrite and post live updates, threads, stories, captions, videos and highlights on behalf of him, amplifying speaker messages, scholar stories, donor impact and thought leadership
  • Coordinate with organizational partners on key campaigns for aligned messaging across channels
  • Provide active daily monitoring, timely responses and community engagement across all channels (including evenings/weekends during peak periods or events)
  • Develop and execute social media plans for major events (annual luncheons, policy briefings, scholar celebrations, conferences, Women's Luncheon, National School Choice Week activities, etc.), including live coverage, real-time posting, post-event amplification and reporting
  • Schedule and publish all content using social management tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite or similar)
  • Coordinate closely with organizational partners, state teams, development, scholarship programs and external PR/communications vendors
  • Track performance metrics, analyze insights and deliver regular reports and recommendations to leadership on engagement, growth and ROI
  • Ensure all content complies with nonprofit best practices, brand guidelines and platform policies
  • Some travel may be required from time to time to accompany the CEO on key events/speaking engagements, to capture content/post real-time

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional writer and storyteller who can translate complex policy and data into emotionally resonant, shareable content.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution style
  • Collaborative team player who can coordinate across departments and with external partners
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to represent the organization with professionalism and warmth
  • Able to balance structure with agility in a fast-moving environment
  • Comfort working within conservative or religious partner environments.
  • Thrives in a startup-like environment and embraces ambiguity.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive social media management experience, preferably in nonprofit, education, advocacy or political/issue-based organizations
  • Strong journalistic or professional writing background with a proven portfolio of compelling, story-driven content (writing samples or portfolio required)
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn) and growing audiences organically.
  • Strong alignment with ACE's mission, values, and founding principles.
  • Experience building and managing executive/CEO thought-leadership channels
  • Experience managing multiple channels and content development and output during live events
  • Excellent project management skills and comfort operating at a manager level with ability to own strategy while executing at a high volume
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, other related fields, or equivalent working experience
  • Experience with video content creation/editing and YouTube channel management (preferred, but not required)
  • Knowledge of education policy and current events in K-12 space (preferred, but not required)
  • Experience working in a national or multi-state organization (preferred, but not required)
  • Technical aptitude and experience with platforms like Microsoft Office Suite (Sharepoint, Teams), all social platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X), Sprout, and MarTech Project Management platforms.

Location, Travel, and Reporting

  • This an in-office role in Denver Tech Center office, remote work during travel periods and as approved by manager
  • Reports to Senior Director of Marketing & PR
