Job description

Job Description:

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Berry College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre. We seek a dynamic teacher-mentor with a strong commitment to actor training, encompassing both classroom instruction and performance. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in musical theatre, guide student-led projects, and collaborate on theatrical productions involving majors, non-majors, faculty, and staff.

Berry College Theatre Company (BCTC), our co-curricular production arm, presents three major productions annually. These productions, combined with rigorous academic training and the LifeWorks program, enable our students to graduate with a distinctive and versatile skill set that prepares them for careers in the arts and beyond.

Faculty at Berry are supported with travel funding and opportunities to collaborate with students on research projects. Successful candidates will contribute to Berry's strategic priorities, including civic engagement and experiential learning, by helping students secure impactful internships. We especially welcome applicants whose teaching and scholarship will enrich the curriculum and embody Berry's Good Neighbor culture.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold a terminal degree (Ph.D. or MFA) in theatre from an accredited institution by the date of employment. Demonstrated experience in teaching, directing, and mentoring students in a liberal arts setting is preferred.
