We are seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Director of Institutional Giving to lead and grow our foundation, corporate, and government fundraising efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced development professional to play a key leadership role in advancing the mission of one of South Florida's most respected nonprofit organizations.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Development, the Director of Institutional Giving is responsible for developing and executing strategies that increase and diversify institutional funding. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funders while identifying new funding opportunities that support BBBS Miami's strategic priorities.

This position manages an annual institutional fundraising portfolio of approximately $34 million and works closely with executive leadership, program staff, and the Board of Directors to secure transformational investments that expand the organization's impact throughout the community.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional giving strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Build, manage, and grow a portfolio of foundation, corporate, and government funding partners.
  • Identify, research, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective and current institutional donors.
  • Monitor philanthropic trends and identify emerging funding opportunities at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Lead the development of compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, reports, and other institutional fundraising materials.
  • Collaborate with program and executive leadership to develop program budgets, funding requests, and organizational case statements.
  • Ensure timely submission of grant applications, reports, and all funder deliverables.
  • Oversee stewardship activities and donor recognition for institutional supporters.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Development to establish fundraising goals and monitor progress throughout the year.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, senior leadership team, Board members, and volunteers to cultivate and strengthen institutional relationships.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising activity within Raiser's Edge (or similar CRM).
  • Prepare fundraising reports, pipeline updates, and progress reports for leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Support annual audit activities and other organizational reporting requirements as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a strategic fundraiser, exceptional writer, and collaborative relationship builder who thrives in a mission-driven environment.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional fundraising experience.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible fundraising experience, with a demonstrated record of securing institutional funding.
  • Experience managing foundation, corporate, and/or government grants from cultivation through stewardship.
  • Strong grant writing, proposal development, editing, and presentation skills.
  • Experience developing program budgets and funding proposals.
  • Knowledge of local, regional, and national philanthropic communities and institutional funding sources.
  • Experience using donor CRM systems such as Raiser's Edge or similar fundraising databases.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • CFRE certification is a plus.
