This dynamic role is ideal for a motivated professional who is passionate about developing impactful learning experiences and supporting high-quality teaching and training. The Training Specialist will lead the development and coordination of engaging, high-quality training programs that support faculty and staff across the university.
Instructional Design Services collaborates with faculty to advance teaching and learning through the creative use of instructional design and media. The team provides expertise, training, and resources to support high-quality, engaging courses that leverage technology effectively. Learn more at

This position is located in
Brookings, SD and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.

Job Responsibilities:- Develop and conduct needs assessments, analyze special requests to revise or adapt the trainings to the needs of the targeted population and develop training schedules.
- Conduct and present trainings by analyzing and defining training objectives, researching subject matter, writing objectives, selecting presentation methods and preparing or selecting training material to present accurate, relevant and timely training
- Provide instructional design expertise to support faculty in integrating innovative educational technologies that enhance teaching effectiveness and improve student learning in both on-campus and online courses.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge of :- Learning Management System (D2L, Moodle, ...) and familiarity with online collaboration, multimedia, and interactive engagement tools used in face-to-face and online learning environments in higher ed;
- Adult learning theory and instructional design to plan, develop, and evaluate effective training programs;
- Adult training methods that address varied learning styles, motivation, and group training settings including face-to-face and online blended delivery formats;
- Working knowledge of eLearning technologies including LMS platforms, productivity tools, online collaboration and communication tools, and AI-assisted instructional applications;
Skill & Ability to:
- Gather and analyze input from faculty to identify training opportunities, define learning objectives, and design training programs aligned to learner needs.
- Design, facilitate, and conduct engaging trainings in multiple formats, including in-person workshops, Zoom sessions, and self-paced online modules in LMS.
- Consult with faculty one-on-one and in groups to recommend and implement eLearning technologies that enhance teaching in face-to-face and online courses.
- Maintain accurate training records and documentation across multiple systems, communicate with diverse stakeholders, and consistently deliver quality trainings.
- Able to work extensively on a computer with strong visual focus and precision.
- Follow protocols and guides to maintain a consistent standard of accuracy across training materials, records, and communications.
