Develops video subsystem designs and key documentation packages to meet project needs and creative intent.

Performs projection and performance studies (e.g., Mapping Matter, Vioso or equivalent) to validate feasibility and communicate constraints, assumptions, and trade-offs.

Produces and maintains design intent documentation to fulfill project requirements and enable effective handoff to delivery partners.

Coordinates with other disciplines to define interfaces and ensure integrated, buildable solutions.

Supports project bidding and estimating activities, including technical proposals and scope definitions.

Reviews vendor submittals, shop drawings, and alternates to protect design intent and maintain performance expectations within budget and schedule constraints.

Leads discipline portions of design reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring deliverables meet internal quality standards.

Performs targeted on-site support as needed (site surveys, installation verification, field changes, troubleshooting) and documents outcomes.

Mentors and develops Associate and Level I designers through coaching, peer reviews, and best practices. Supports capability development across the AVL team.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Media Technology, Technical Theater, or equivalent experience.

3+ years of experience with a degree (5+ years without a degree) designing and documenting professional video and media systems, preferably for themed entertainment, attractions, or other permanent immersive installations.

Proficiency with projection study and validation tools (e.g., Mapping Matter, Vioso or equivalent) and the ability to translate study outputs into design recommendations.

Working knowledge of large-format projection, LED display systems, video routing/distribution, processing, and playback/render pipelines common to themed entertainment applications.

Strong documentation skills using CAD/BIM and related toolchains (AutoCAD and/or Revit, Bluebeam).

Experience developing design intent documentation packages (Single Line Diagrams, Rack Elevations, Cable Schedules, Equipment Lists, etc.)

Understanding of image science fundamentals relevant to design decisions (brightness, contrast, color, optics/throw constraints, blend geometry) and common installation constraints (access, concealment, heat and power).

Ability to coordinate with external integrators and vendors, including reviewing submittals and alternates to protect performance and maintainability.

Basic knowledge of commercial aspects of projects (scope definition, assumptions, estimating)

Expected Travel: 10-20%. Must be able to acquire passport for international travel.

Designing and delivering professional video and media systems, preferably for themed entertainment, attractions, or other permanent immersive installations.

Experience coordinating with external integrators and vendors. Comfort reviewing submittals and alternates to protect performance and maintainability.

Basic knowledge of commercial aspects of projects (scope definition, assumptions, estimating)

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.

Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location.

Must be able to view and complete project work on a computer monitor or equipment screens for extended periods of time.
