Responsibilities:

  • Produce Newsroom podcast videos in horizontal and vertical formats

  • Collaborate with the newsroom audience, social, and video teams to ensure smooth production timelines and delivery, including pitching videos to our social team and writing captions

  • Pitch and develop different forms of short-form vertical video storytelling that are journalistically powerful and visually transformative

  • Can handle the pressure of newsroom deadlines and juggle multiple projects at any given time

  • Must be open to experimenting with new ideas

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence (https://www.nytco.com/company/mission-and-values/) and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

  • This role reports to the Executive Producer for Podcast Video

Basic Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of multimedia storytelling, video editing, and production experience in video news journalism

  • Excellent news judgment and ability to work with colleagues and reporters to synthesize news gathering and investigations into informative and engaging podcast video

  • Experience creating original news videos that incorporate audio, video, still images, graphics, and text

  • Ability to edit video with Adobe Premiere

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cinematography experience

  • Experience working in video podcasts

  • Experience working with social videos and social media platforms

  • Interest in news, politics, and pop culture

  • The ability to make quick decisions under intense deadlines in a high-pressure newsroom setting
