Job description

Associated Housewrights, a premier residential design-build firm, specializes in delivering high-quality new homes, additions, and remodeling projects to clients throughout south-central Wisconsin.

We pride ourselves on offering an exceptional design process and a seamless construction experience, all supported by a team of personable and professional experts.

Our commitment is to deliver well-designed, high-performing residential solutions that combine functional precision, technical expertise, and inspiring aesthetics—all while maintaining a strong focus on value.

We are currently looking to grow our team with a Senior Architectural Designer!

Senior Architectural Designer The Senior Architectural Designer will have extensive experience leading residential clients through all aspects of remodeling, addition, and new home architectural design.

This position works directly with clients and project teams from design inception through construction completion while providing leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to the Architectural Design team.

In this role, you must have high performance standards, enjoy solving complex design challenges, and be passionate about developing others within a supportive, collaborative work environment.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field preferred. 8–10 years of residential design experience with a strong portfolio of additions, remodels, and new home projects.
  • Proven ability to lead residential projects and client relationships from concept through construction.
  • Strong understanding of the design-build process, including balancing design goals, construction requirements, budgets, and project constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, deadlines, and attention to detail.
  • Experience coordinating consultants, contractors, and internal teams while proactively identifying and resolving project issues.
  • Proven experience mentoring designers and reviewing work to ensure design excellence and technical accuracy.
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD drafting and modeling (Vectorworks preferred).
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively through drawings, 3D models, and written materials.
  • Working knowledge of Wisconsin UDC, Energy Conservation Code, residential construction practices, structural evaluation, and real-world construction constraints.
  • Basic computer and network competency beyond CAD/design software, including email, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
  • Apple Mac OS experience a plus.
  • Licensure or active pursuit of architectural licensure preferred.

Why You'll Love Working With Us:

  • Opportunities to lead challenging and rewarding residential projects from concept through construction.
  • The ability to mentor and collaborate with talented team members while helping shape the future of our design practice.
  • A supportive, growth-oriented environment where your expertise, leadership, and contributions are highly valued.
  • Opportunities to work alongside skilled professionals across both design and construction disciplines, fostering creativity and continuous learning.
  • Meaningful involvement in a company that prioritizes quality craftsmanship, exceptional customer experiences, and professional development.
  • Associated Housewrights is an equal opportunity employer.
  • Work will occur under the guidance of a Wisconsin Registered Architect.
  • Licensure is preferred, and continued professional development and advancement are strongly encouraged.
  • We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits. If you enjoy a fast-paced work environment that strives for continuous quality improvement, we welcome you to apply!
