Job description

What is the Opportunity?

Reporting to the Director of Federal Contract Solutions (FCS), the Controlled Information Compliance Specialist is responsible for the oversight and governance of information security compliance for U.S. Federal contracts involving Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI). This role ensures the secure handling, sharing, and protection of federal information across Aecon’s U.S. programs and supplier ecosystem.

Citizenship Requirement:
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Provide subject matter expertise and oversight for compliance with U.S. Government information security requirements. No classified controls are associated with this position.
  • Ensure the secure management, access control, and governance of federally controlled information within approved collaboration and document management environments.
  • Monitor regulatory and contractual changes impacting unclassified federal information requirements and ensure compliance approaches remain current and effective.
  • Partner with the Federal Contract Solutions team and cross‑functional stakeholders to align information controls with business operations, project delivery, and federal compliance obligations.
  • Support the implementation and sustainment of information control requirements across U.S. federal construction projects, programs, and associated suppliers.
  • Support information control and export awareness and training initiatives related to federal controlled information.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology to promote information security and document control best practices for U.S. Federal Government programs, including document protection, enclave access, and incident response support related to information spillage events.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience supporting information security, compliance, or federal contracting environments, preferably within engineering, construction, nuclear, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects involving U.S. Government customers; nuclear or DOE‑related experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance compliance requirements with operational execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical, judgment, and problem‑solving skills with a risk‑based mindset.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to assess information security programs against federal compliance expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
