Job Summary
The AV Field Engineer is responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, and commissioning complex audiovisual systems in both office and on-site environments. This contract-to-hire role requires advanced technical expertise in control systems, DSP platforms, and networked AV infrastructure. The engineer will diagnose equipment issues, configure and manipulate control system code, oversee system installations, and ensure seamless system functionality. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience commissioning large-scale commercial AV systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments.
Job Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, service, and commission complex commercial AV systems and associated equipment.

Diagnose and resolve system performance issues, including hardware, software, and network-related components.

Configure and support control systems, including panel setup and code adjustments.

Upload, configure, and troubleshoot DSP files to ensure optimal audio performance.

Set up and troubleshoot VLAN networks and coordinate network requirements with client IT teams.

Perform advanced audio tuning for complex, multi-divisible commercial audio systems.

Configure and troubleshoot video teleconferencing systems.

Create and coordinate comprehensive drawing packages, including signal flow diagrams, equipment elevations, speaker placement layouts, and conduit requirements.

Interpret advanced system drawings, specifications, and technical documentation; develop shop drawings and submittals for new projects.

Oversee technical aspects of installations and ensure alignment with project specifications.

Support project closeout activities, including punch list completion and system validation.

Assist sales teams with system demonstrations and technical presentations as needed.

Support project managers with change order design, documentation, and cost estimates.

Provide both remote and on-site technical support as required.

Maintain the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Job Requirements

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred.

Minimum of three years of direct experience commissioning large-scale commercial AV systems independently (not in an assistant capacity).

Demonstrated experience with control panel configuration and setup, including Crestron, Extron, and QSC platforms.

Proven experience uploading, configuring, and troubleshooting DSP systems, including Biamp and QSC/Q-SYS.

Strong experience configuring and troubleshooting VLAN networks.

Demonstrated expertise in audio tuning for complex, multi-divisible commercial AV environments.

Experience configuring and troubleshooting video teleconferencing systems.

Proven ability to create and coordinate full drawing packages, including signal flow diagrams, equipment elevations, speaker placement layouts, and conduit requirements.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and MS Project.

Strong ability to interpret blueprints, technical specifications, and quality documentation.

Demonstrated ability to define project scope, develop detailed task plans, and manage projects through completion and client turnover.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations.

Ability to travel within assigned regional territories as needed.
