Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Volunteer Services department is responsible for the recruitment, screening, orientation, scheduling, management, and recognition of more than 1,100 community adult and college student volunteers annually. The department develops and supports meaningful roles for volunteers that will enhance the experience for patients and visitors at University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital, Harding Hospital, Brain & Spine Hospital, University Hospital East, and Ambulatory sites. Prioritizes support for key programs including Ambassador wayfinding, NICU Rockabye program, peer support volunteers (spinal cord injury, burn, heart, addiction, amputee, eye), Moms2B program, EnCompass, the Besa employee volunteer program, and group volunteer opportunities.
Position Summary
The Program Manager is responsible for the daily coordination and management of the college, and adult volunteer programs at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center. The Manager provides coordination and training for all new volunteers and ensures appropriate coverage. The Manager also assists department leadership in monitoring and supporting existing programs, planning, development and implementation of new volunteer programs, recognition events, as well as volunteer promotion and recruitment within the Medical Center and the community.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in business, communications, or related area. Master’s degree in health care preferred.
Minimum 4 years professional experience, preferably in the health care industry or related field.
Ability to work in matrix environment and provide team leadership across reporting and departmental lines.
Ongoing: Continuing education credits through OHA and other seminars as appropriate.
