ob Summary
The Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welding and fabrication work using MIG, TIG, wire, spot welding, and oxy / acetylene equipment. This role ensures products meet quality, safety, and production standards while following blueprints, specifications, and company procedures.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform welding operations using MIG, TIG, wire welder, spot welder, and oxy / acetylene torch
- Weld I-beams, frames, and fuel tanks in flat, vertical, and overhead positions
- Set up, lay out, and fabricate or rework finished products using material handling equipment or manual layouts
- Clean, grind, and dress welds using hand-held sanders, grinders, wire wheels, and finishing tools
- Clamp, hold, tack weld, drill, mill, tap, cut, and bolt components to achieve proper configuration prior to final welding
- Create quality welds according to blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Inspect welds, materials, tools, and equipment for defects or malfunctions
- Rework welds and components as required to meet quality standards
- Change welding wire and shielding gas as necessary
- Ensure welding equipment is properly set up and used safely
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of welding equipment; request repairs as needed
- Assist with fuel tank pressure testing and rework when required
- Complete work in accordance with production schedules and quality expectations
- Accurately track time and completed work using weekly timesheets
- Report and document material, production, quality, or safety issues to supervisors or management
