Job description

Step onto our 2nd shift and keep world-class presses humming

When late afternoon rolls in, you take the handoff from first shift and walk the floor—ears tuned to the rhythm of our presses, eyes scanning for the smallest sign of wear. You’re the calm in the moment when a feeder misbehaves, the expert who can rebuild a gearbox, and the partner production trusts to keep work moving.

About Oliver Inc.

With more than 250 years of craftsmanship behind us, multiple facilities, and investments in cutting-edge, sustainable technologies, Oliver Inc. delivers speed, consistency, and nimbleness as a one-stop provider for printing and packaging. Our culture is built on passion, respect, and customer-first creativity that helps brands grow.

What you’ll do

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair presses and a range of manufacturing equipment.
  • Partner with supervisors and production teams to pinpoint performance issues and close them out quickly.
  • Diagnose mechanical faults and determine the right corrective action.
  • Rebuild machines, equipment, and key components as required.
  • Research and implement upgrades and modifications that boost reliability and reduce failures.
  • Collaborate with OEMs and vendors to resolve failures, source parts, and plan recommended fixes or improvements.
  • Decide when work should be executed in-house versus outsourced.
  • Manage mechanical spare parts inventory; select suppliers based on availability, quality, and cost.
  • Design, machine, weld, and fabricate parts and components to keep equipment in top form.
  • Perform multiple welding processes.
  • Operate lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses, and other shop tools.
  • Support general facility upkeep when needed—carpentry and other maintenance tasks included.
  • Respond to issues and emergencies during assigned shift hours.
  • Handle other related duties as assigned.

Schedule

  • Full-time, 2nd shift
  • Occasional response to equipment emergencies may be required based on operational needs.

What makes you a great fit

  • 5+ years of mechanical experience, ideally in manufacturing or industrial settings.
  • Deep knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance of complex machinery.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience repairing and rebuilding industrial/manufacturing equipment.
  • Machining, welding, and fabrication experience.
  • Proficiency operating a lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, and drill press.
  • Ability to perform various welding techniques.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required certifications for electrical work.
  • Prior supervisory experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, diagrams, manuals, and related documentation.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with production employees, supervisors, vendors, and equipment manufacturers.
  • Comfort with math involving fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Analytical mindset—identify problems, gather facts, and select practical solutions.
  • Self-directed with the ability to prioritize multiple maintenance and repair needs.

Why you’ll thrive here

You’ll join a team that values craftsmanship and continuous improvement, where your ideas to increase uptime and reliability are encouraged—and implemented.
