Entry - Level Mig Welder

Job Description

We are seeking two skilled production/fabricators to join our team and contribute to the start of the year production. The assembler position is responsible for the proper, productive, and safe fitting and joining of various skylight, smoke vent, and other components using selected fabricating processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely and securely move required materials into and out of the welding area. Certification and licensing as a forklift driver is required if using a forklift; otherwise, a pallet jack will be used.

• Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to tacking and welding using prescribed fixtures, clamps, squares, and tape measures.

• Operate manual aluminum and steel wire-feed welding equipment to properly join metal components within defined parameters, ensuring high-quality products.

• Examine workpieces for defects using visual inspection and measuring tools to ensure conformance with specifications.

• Monitor the welding process to avoid overheating, warpage, distortion, or burning through materials.

• Detect faulty welding machine operations or defective materials and notify supervisors.

• Properly stack and secure finished parts on pallets before transferring to the assembly department.

• Ensure correct counts of finished products are marked or tagged with order numbers and/or other identifying marks.

• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in MIG welding, blueprint reading, fabrication, and production processes.

• Ability to inspect and ensure quality standards in fabricated products.

• Basic fabricating aptitude with either a 2-year technical school degree or 2 years of related work experience.

• Knowledge of safety requirements for operating wire-feed equipment and material handling.

• Understanding of fixturing, clamping, and weld setup parameters such as volts, amps, and wire speed.

• Ability to use basic measuring instruments and interpret manufacturing drawings.

• Proficiency in assigned welding techniques and knowledge of finish grinding tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of wire and filler materials for joining aluminum and galvanized steel.

• Completion of an internal pre-employment welding test.

Work Environment

Day shift hours are from 5am to 1:30pm, with opportunities for overtime. The work environment emphasizes safety and cleanliness, with the use of manual aluminum and steel wire-feed welding equipment and pallet jacks. Employees are expected to wear appropriate attire for a fabrication setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Santa Ana, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
