EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS
CITY OF WORCESTER
The City of Worcester is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Regional Dispatcher II Apprentice in theDepartment of Emergency Communications. Under the direction of the Senior Regional Dispatcher, the position is responsible for receiving and transmitting information accurately and rapidly via communications equipment for Police, Fire and EMS. All Police, Fire, and 9-1-1 calls are received and dispatched from a state-of the art emergency Communications Center. All the required training and necessary certifications for this position will be provided upon hire.

ESSENTIAL TASKS :
- Operate a computer-aided-dispatch (CAD) system
- Answer emergency and non-emergency telephone calls promptly and courteously
- Obtain complete information from callers and make a rapid and accurate determination of the nature and priority of each call
- Select and dispatch the most appropriate emergency response unit(s) in accordance with established user-agency policies and procedures
- Monitor safety of field personnel and dispatches assistance as required
- Special projects as assigned by supervisor and perform other related duties
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

SALARY RANGE : $28.61 hourly, $29.64 upon completion of training with a Shift Differential of $1.00 per hour for overnight shifts, full-time, with an excellent benefits package.
