Overview We are seeking a full-time Electronic Assembler in our Salem, OR location. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling electronic components, subassemblies, systems and enclosures, following all the steps required in the manufacturing process to ensure the products meet the high-quality standards established by management. Second Shift : Mon - Fri 2 : 30pm - 11 : 00pm Essential Functions Follows work instructions and sample assemblies when working at the different stations in the production line, guaranteeing the specifications of the product design and manufacturing process are met Positions and aligns parts in a specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture or other by using different devices by hand or power tools to crimp, stake, bolt, rivet, weld, solder, cement, press fit or perform similar operation to secure parts in place, according to the type of product being manufactured guaranteeing all the units meet the expected quality Assembles components, by mounting assembled components, connecting wires, connectors, terminals and contact points using soldering, welding, thermocompression or related bonding procedures to ensure the performance of the product meets expectations Builds cabinets and cases, by following the proper process depending on the type of unit (wood or fiberglass) indicated in the working instructions to guarantee the quality of all units Installs subassemblies and / or components in cases and cabinets and attaches functional and cosmetic hardware such as caps, clamps, and knobs using hand tools and power tools, making sure all details match the high quality of the performance of the unit Operates standard test equipment and conducts functional, operational, environmental and life tests on product, reading, interpreting and recording results to make sure defective units will not be packed and / or shipped Performs operator level preventive maintenance on machines, following specific requirements established by the Manufacturing Maintenance leadership to guarantee the production schedule will not be affected by unexpected failures or downtime Requires the ability to lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques Compliance with HRD-003 (Garmin’s Attendance Policy) Maintains acceptable organization and cleanliness in work area Basic Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience Must possess a high degree of dexterity and eye coordination, to allow manipulation of buttons, switches, hand tools and knobs on delicate equipment, products and parts, in the performance of essential functions Associates operating machinery must have a mechanical aptitude with an attention to detail Must possess the ability to bend, twist and lift up to 55 pounds while using safe lifting techniques, standing for an entire shift and walking long distances throughout the facility This position will require the ability to sit, stand, look down, bend, twist and have dexterity with hands for up to 10 hours with occasional overtime Completes tasks on the manufacturing process with moderate supervision and direction Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment with warm temperatures Must possess basic computer skills Demonstrated strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment Desired Qualifications Previous assembly experience Soldering skills Previous experience in a manufacturing electronics environment Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
