Job Description:
CDM Smith is actively seeking skilled Inspectors to join our team, providing professional and independent construction inspection and oversight for Federal Construction Projects with agencies such as USACE, AFCEC, and NAVFAC. This is a great opportunity to be part of our talent pool for upcoming projects.
The Construction Inspection Expert will conduct thorough inspections, document findings, and communicate issues to project leadership, ensuring projects are completed successfully, safely, and in compliance with all requirements. This role operates independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site inspections of construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance projects, ensuring compliance with approved design specifications and safety codes.
- Document inspection findings, including deficiencies and required corrective actions.
- Review contractor submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and material certifications in collaboration with engineers and project management teams.
- Monitor progress, prepare detailed daily reports, project status reports, and technical recommendations.
- Inspect and verify materials and testing processes for adherence to specifications.
- Oversee field construction services, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality control standards.
- Conduct thorough site investigations and participate in various project meetings, including pre-construction and project closeout.
- Provide mentorship to junior construction professionals and act as a liaison between contractors and engineering staff.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma.
- At least 5 years of relevant construction experience.
- Willingness to travel domestically and potentially overseas.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with Federal or DoD projects (NAVFAC, USACE, or Air Force CE).
- Experience in both vertical and horizontal construction.
- Understanding of federal acquisition practices and familiarity with UFGS specifications.
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification.
- Construction Quality Management training for Contractors.

Job Site Location: United States - Nationwide
Amount of Travel Required: 100% required.

Pay Range: $27.30 - $54.60 per hour. Bonuses are discretionary.
