Description

Craft Educational Content That Makes a Difference

Are you passionate about student learning and excited about using emerging technology to improve how educational content is created? Do you enjoy shaping strong instructional experiences and ensuring high-quality learning materials reach students quickly and effectively?

We’re looking for content developers who combine strong instructional judgment with a product-oriented mindset. In this role, you will design and oversee the development of lesson content using subject expertise, AI tools, and collaborative workflows. You will guide content from concept to launch, ensuring it is engaging, accurate, and aligned to learning standards.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy shaping instructional products, engaging in learning experience feedback loops, and evaluating content quality at scale. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to continuously improve both the content itself and the systems used to create it.

About the Role

This full-time position demands strong critical thinking skills and a deep passion for education. You will be responsible for—but not limited to—the following:
  • Design and oversee the creation of lesson materials across digital and print formats using AI-assisted content development workflows
  • Define strong instructional approaches, examples, and explanations for lessons and practice materials
  • Continuously improve prompts, workflows, and production processes to increase speed and quality
  • Achieve and maintain individual key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to production output and content quality
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and content teams in sprint cycles to rapidly develop and iterate on instructional materials

Core Competencies

  • Strong instructional judgment when evaluating lessons, questions, and explanations
  • Deep understanding of instructional design, including standards alignment and test frameworks
  • Ownership mindset and responsibility for content from concept through launch
  • Product-oriented thinking that balances instructional quality, production speed, and student impact
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills within fast-moving sprint cycles
  • Ability to guide AI-assisted content creation through effective prompting, review, and iteration
  • Curiosity and comfort with emerging technologies and new workflow tools
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills in a production-driven environment

Success Criteria

  • You consistently demonstrate strong editorial judgment by quickly identifying strong content, improving weak content, and ensuring instructional clarity.
  • You exhibit a strong sense of product vision; you think beyond individual lessons to shape cohesive, effective content that supports student outcomes.
  • You proactively identify problems and propose solutions that improve content quality or production workflows.
  • You maintain clear communication across teams to ensure that content is completed on time and meets quality standards.
  • You strive to build an inclusive, supportive, and positive work environment.
  • You receive high marks on key performance indicators (KPIs) and receive exemplary performance reviews from leadership.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience developing educational content (curriculum development, assessment design, or instructional materials) outside of personal classroom use
  • Subject matter expert in English, Math, Science, or Social Studies
  • Strong understanding of key instructional concepts, including scaffolding and test-taking strategies
  • Familiarity with standardized assessments such as ACT, SAT, and EOC/EOG
  • Ability to evaluate and refine instructional materials quickly and accurately
  • Receptivity to feedback and ability to iterate quickly
  • Strong performance on standardized assessments (ACT/SAT) is a plus

Benefits

  • Employee benefits eligibility (health, disability, AD&D, life insurance)
  • Optional dental and vision coverage
  • Matching 401k
  • Paid time off
  • Generous paid holidays
  • Ability to work fully remote
  • Company supplied laptop

MasteryPrep was founded in 2013 by Craig Gehring with a mission to level the playing field in standardized test preparation and help all students—even those from underserved communities—achieve college and career readiness. The company partners with schools and districts nationwide to provide mastery-based test prep programs and services designed to improve student performance on high-stakes assessments like the ACT®, SAT®, TSIA2, WorkKeys®, and state End-of-Course exams. Rather than simply “teaching to the test,” MasteryPrep’s solutions focus on building essential skills, confidence, and mastery that support lasting academic growth.
