Summary

This requisition expires on March 31, 2026, but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date.

Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and repairs of the Denton Enterprise Airport including the safe and effective operation of equipment.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

DUTIES

• Operate light-to-medium motorized equipment as well as common and precision power and hand tools to perform skilled duties to complete site maintenance; operate of ground-to-tower radio communication equipment.
• Maintain, replace, and care for airport grounds and public service areas including, but not limited to, mending fences, completing installations, troubleshooting electrical equipment and gates, landscaping, and removing litter, debris, and objects.
• Inspect and check equipment before and after use, conduct repair, as appropriate and report issues and/or problems to leadership immediately.
• Conduct daily airport safety inspections on equipment and systems including, but not limited to, pavement, navigational aids, airport lighting, and precision approach path indicator (PAPI); complete and/or schedule repair(s) and/or replacement(s), as appropriate and report issues to leadership immediately.
• Respond to after-hour maintenance and emergency service calls.
• Ensure compliance with all City policies and procedures, standards of quality and safety, and all applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, regulations, laws, and policies.
• Assist with the Wildlife Hazard Management Program including, but not limited to, recordkeeping on all wildlife strikes and control actions; maintain and forward report to Federal Aviation Association (FAA) as appropriate and upload strike data to the FAA Strike database.
• Assist with monitoring and reporting of the Airport Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.
• Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and assist and respond to customer issues; notify leadership immediately if not able to resolve concerns.
• Perform minor maintenance duties and conduct research for simple-to-moderate complex assignments; may direct a specialized function or activity, as required.
• Maintain detailed daily operations log/shift summary of inspections, incident reports, and other reports, as needed.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent; and,
• One (1) year experience in maintenance, airport operations, or related field; and,
• If do not possess, must obtain a Department of Agriculture Non-commercial Pesticide Applicators License (category 3A) within 18 months of employment,
• OR
• Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Must have and maintain a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law).
• Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, employment history verification, and social security number verification.
• Must pass a physical examination.
• If do not possess, must have and maintain a valid Texas Department of Agriculture Non-commercial Pesticide Applicators (category 3A) License within 18 months of employment.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements

SAFETY

• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
• Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): Yes.
• Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; use of mower, backhoe, bobcat, dump truck, bat wing mower/loader, chainsaw, weed eater, ditcher, and hand and pneumatic tools; wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Posture: Prolonged sitting, standing stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
• Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions including reaching; keyboarding and use of mouse.
• Lifting: Lifting no more than 100 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds.
• Environment: Works in outside with exposure to sun, heat, cold, humidity, and inclement weather, noise, dust, fumes, chemicals, odors, heights, vibrations, potentially hazardous conditions, steep slopes, uneven ground, and rough terrain; occasionally exposed to animals, potentially diseased, injured and/or aggressive animals; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
• Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
• Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
• 1. Must be able to work from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm in all types of weather.
  2. Must be able to work on-call hours and able to respond within 30 minutes.
  3. Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime, as needed.
