Electrical Maintenance Technician
The City of Troutdale is offering a full-time position for an Electrical Maintenance Technician. The salary range is $37.92 - $44.30 hourly. The job is located in Troutdale, OR.
The position involves performing skilled installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and testing of department electrical equipment including electrical pumps / motors, automated motor control systems, variable frequency drives, electronic process controls, and typical facility-related electrical systems. The role also includes assisting other divisions with electrical maintenance, repairs, and permitted new installations.
Essential job functions include :
- Perform preventative / general maintenance, testing, and repairs to electrical equipment and control systems, pumps and motors up to 350hp, 480volt 3-phase, and permitted new circuit installation with knowledge of and ability to work in Class 1 and Division 2 environments.
- Repair and maintain potable water production wells, water pollution control facility plant, and wastewater pump stations, automated motor control systems up to and including 480v / 3ph, magnetic contactors, variable frequency drives, and electronic process controls.
- Review and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, work orders, maintenance records, and customer service requests to accurately complete work assignments; respond to service calls, determine priority, and perform emergency and non-emergency repairs during and occasionally after regular working hours.
- Perform general electrical installation maintenance and repair for Public Works facilities and grounds and assist the Parks and Facilities Division with electrical repair and maintenance of other City facilities as needed.
- Receive cross training with Mechanical / Electronic Equipment Maintenance Supervisor in complex mechanical and electrical diagnostics and repairs.
- Maintain safe work habits and contribute to the safety of self, co-workers, and the public.
- Maintain consistent and regular job attendance and adherence to working hours.
- Respond promptly after hours when necessary to perform emergency electrical repairs required to restore or sustain functionality of critical systems.
- Effectively and clearly communicate to others verbally and in both electronic and physical written form.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.

Experience and education : Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be to possess a high school diploma or GED, 2 years electrical skills training, and over 4 years of related job experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above duties.

Working conditions typical of a maintenance shop environment with occasional work outdoors during all seasons and occasionally in severe weather conditions and / or at night. Some work is performed in underground vaults and confined spaces.
Supervision is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide instruction to Equipment Maintenance Technician I. Works under the general supervision of the Public Works Superintendent. Receives direct supervision, work assignments, and direction from Mechanical / Electronic Equipment Maintenance Supervisor.
