The Customer Success Self-Service team is seeking a highly talented, self-driven, and proven Software Engineer to help shape the future of Messaging Experiences at PayPal.
As a key member of our Web development team, you will design and develop core components of the Messaging Platform—including Chat, Inbox, and Email SDKs—and integrate them across multiple PayPal ecosystems such as PayPal, Venmo, and Hyperwallet. Your work will directly contribute to creating seamless, intuitive user experiences that keep customers engaged and empowered to self-serve.
We’re looking for engineers who are innovative, curious, and quick learners, with a passion for building scalable, user-centric solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and cross-functional teams to understand business goals and deliver next-generation self-service experiences that transform how billions of users resolve issues independently.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Develop solutions for specific use cases, that can be extended and reused for future needs.
- Collaborate closely with architects, technical leads, product managers, UX designers, and fellow engineers to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Own end-to-end feature execution, from development, code reviews, and testing to automation and production release.
- Experiment with emerging AI tools and frameworks under guidance from senior engineers, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency or user engagement.
- Stay curious about advancements in AI and help bring new ideas and learnings to the team.
Required Technical Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in web development, with a strong foundation in modern front-end and back-end technologies.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript, along with hands-on experience using frameworks such as React and Angular, and server-side development with Node.js.
- Proven ability to optimize for speed, scalability, and accessibility, while adhering to SEO best practices and ensuring cross-browser and cross-device compatibility.
- Experienced with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaboration tools such as Jira, ensuring effective task management and workflow tracking.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining unit tests and functional automation tests to ensure product quality and reliability.
- Committed to continuous learning and staying current with evolving web technologies and best practices.
