The UA School Garden Workshop (SGW) School Gardener’s Almanac Program Coordinator position works in support of coordinating the annual publication of SGW’s School Gardener’s Almanac, as well as a partnered eco-regional almanac. Learn more about the Almanac . In this role, you will serve as the lead coordinator for the annually published almanacs while acting as the primary communication liaison between the SGW team and content contributors, designers, artists, editors, translators, and others involved in the process. You will also play an important role in nurturing authentic relationships within the existing SGW school garden network and surrounding communities.

The University of Arizona’s School Garden Workshop (SGW) uses school gardens as hands-on learning environments that connect academics to sustainability, local ecology, and food systems. Through this service-learning program, interns support garden development in underserved Tucson schools, working with educators and K–12 students. The Sonoran Desert School Gardener’s Almanac—an annually published, free resource—extends this impact by connecting classrooms and communities to regional knowledge through partnerships with local contributors. Together, these efforts foster curiosity, cooperation, and community engagement.

At the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS), we work to investigate ideas, transform social conditions, and tell unheard stories. We prepare students, engage in research, and collaborate with community partners to address everyday challenges, be thoughtful problem-solvers, and build solidarity with others across the world. We are rooted in the unique sense of place in our Borderlands region. With more than 30 SBS majors, the College of SBS has a portfolio of competitive and highly ranked graduate programs. Seven of our graduate programs are nationally ranked in the top 25, including top 5 programs in anthropology, geography, political philosophy, and creative nonfiction. With a wide range of subjects to choose from, our students can explore subjects ranging from ancient philosophy to artificial intelligence.

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work assignment in conversation with the supervisor.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; retirement plans; accessto UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
