Position Highlights The University of Arizona's School Garden Workshop invites you to apply to the role of Program Coordinator, Almanac. The UA School Garden Workshop (SGW) School Gardener’s Almanac Program Coordinator position works in support of coordinating the annual publication of SGW’s School Gardener’s Almanac, as well as a partnered eco-regional almanac. In this role, you will serve as the lead coordinator for the annually published almanacs while acting as the primary communication liaison between the SGW team and content contributors, designers, artists, editors, translators, and others involved in the process. You will also play an important role in nurturing authentic relationships within the existing SGW school garden network and surrounding communities.
The University of Arizona’s School Garden Workshop (SGW) uses school gardens as hands-on learning environments that connect academics to sustainability, local ecology, and food systems. Through this service-learning program, interns support garden development in underserved Tucson schools, working with educators and K–12 students. The Sonoran Desert School Gardener’s Almanac—an annually published, free resource—extends this impact by connecting classrooms and communities to regional knowledge through partnerships with local contributors. Together, these efforts foster curiosity, cooperation, and community engagement.

Duties & Responsibilities Coordination of the annual SGW School Gardeners Almanac
- Develop and maintain timeline for Almanac publication to ensure outreach project objectives are met regarding providing community members with knowledge and resources in growing food and using plants medicinally
- Establish process for accepting and reviewing Almanac content
- Communicate with and guide Almanac contributors
- Cultivate relationships and build trust with Almanac contributors
- Maintain consistent communication with graphic designer, artist, editor, translator, videographer
Coordination of the annual SGW School Gardeners Almanac
- Coordinate stipends and independent contractor forms for contributors, graphic designer, artist, editor, translator, videographer
- Track budgeting and spending for grants associated with the SGW Almanac
- Coordinate events for almanac related engagement including but not limited to the almanac release party and contributor celebration
Coordination and point person for the annual partnered eco-regional Almanac
- Develop timeline for collaboration with outside school garden organization (SGO) and guide publication timeline
- Guide process for accepting and reviewing Almanac content
- Maintain consistent communication with outside SGO lead
- Coordinate stipends for outside SGO
- Track budgeting and spending for grants associated with the partnered eco-regional Almanac
- Coordinate logistics for 3 day workshop
Additional responsibilities as needed
- Website updates
- Deliver almanac related lessons within the existing SGW school garden network
- Support SGW team members in the delivery of SGW programming

Minimum Qualifications - High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Some travel may be required for events and to visit school sites for trainings.
- Ability to drive according to the University .
Preferred Qualifications- Experience building trust and sustaining engagement within established networks or community-based programs.
- Experience creating, curating, or editing content for publications, educational materials, or community-based resources.
- Experience delivering lessons, workshops, or trainings within a structured program or community setting.
- Experience tracking budgets and monitoring expenditures, particularly in grant-funded or program-based environments.
- Experience coordinating and executing events, including planning, logistics, and stakeholder communication.
