RETS Associates, on behalf of our client, is seeking a highly energetic and motivated CMBS / Commercial Real Estate Analyst to join its CMBS / CRE investment team in Los Angeles, CA . This individual will play an integral role across the commercial real estate loan investment lifecycle, including underwriting, transaction execution, asset management, and capital markets activities. The role offers meaningful exposure to a broad range of CRE debt investments and the opportunity to work within a collaborative, fast-paced institutional platform.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite CRE debt investments across senior mortgage, mezzanine, and preferred equity
- Screen, size, and price new opportunities, evaluating borrower business plans, leasing, capex, and market fundamentals
- Prepare investment memoranda and present underwriting conclusions, risks, and mitigants
- Lead due diligence, including third-party reports, lease and financial reviews, and borrower and market diligence
- Support transaction execution through closing
- Assist with asset management, including monitoring performance, covenants, and re-underwriting as needed
- Support capital markets activities tied to participations, warehouse facilities, and securitizations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required5 to 7 years of experience in commercial real estate credit and underwritingExposure to bridge lending and / or life company lending strongly preferredDemonstrated ability to independently lead underwriting and closing workstreams with limited supervisionAdvanced Excel financial modeling skills requiredProficiency with ARGUS Enterprise strongly preferredStrong understanding of loan structuring, documentation, and credit analysisHighly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple transactions simultaneously under tight deadlinesWhy Work Here?
