Embedded Mechatronics Engineer

Job Summary :

Zymo Research is looking for a dynamic individual to join our Engineering Team! The Embedded Mechatronics Engineer will design implement and optimize embedded motor-control systems for complex mechatronic platforms. This role focuses on real-time motion control firmware development electronics integration and close collaboration with mechanical electrical and software teams to deliver reliable high-performance motion solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Design implement and tune motion-control algorithms (including PID) for multi-motor systems (stepper BLDC servo).
• Develop embedded firmware in C / C and Python for real-time control on MCU / RTOS platforms.
• Select and integrate microcontrollers and peripherals (timers PWMs UART / I2C / SPI memory) based on system requirements.
• Implement and debug communication interfaces (UART CAN I2C SPI USB) between controllers and modules.
• Collaborate on PCB-level design grounding power distribution and EMI / EMC mitigation for high-current motor systems.
• Integrate and condition signals from sensors (encoders limit switches optical sensors) with appropriate filtering.
• Implement safety features : fault detection watchdogs overcurrent protection and interlocks.
• Use oscilloscopes logic analyzers and in-circuit debuggers for bring-up validation and troubleshooting.
• Create and maintain technical documentation : architecture diagrams firmware specs test plans and V&V protocols.

Education :

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechatronics Robotics Mechanical Engineering with a strong controls focus or a related field required.

Masters degree in a related discipline is a plus.

Compensation Benefits and Perks :

The estimated base compensation range for this position is $77000- $100000 annually at the time of posting. Actual compensation details will be provided in writing at the time of offer if applicable and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation including geographic location experience knowledge skills abilities and other job permitted factors.
