Collins Aerospace is seeking a qualified algorithms Principal Systems Engineer for the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program. This is a senior engineering position for an individual with educational and / or professional experience in the development of requirements and maintenance for Global Positioning System (GPS) Navigation Systems Programs. This is a lead position which requires frequent interface with the program management team and customer. This individual will be required to oversee tasking for requirements, maintenance and generation. The work is technical, and the individual must be comfortable with working with equations and general algorithm description language.

The successful candidate must be able to work on individual tasks under limited supervision, or with a team to achieve operational targets and must have the ability to communicate and collaborate with parties within and outside of own job function. Eventually the candidate may be responsible for helping to provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within their job area.

What You Will Do :

• Support the JPALS and JPALS adjacent programs.
• Lead defining system design requirements, including derived requirements, from customers.
• Lead small team of requirements systems engineers.
• Oversee and guide technical direction to understand, analyze, and develop the models, requirements, and designs using enterprise standard tools, processes, and industry best practices.
• Interface with multidisciplinary teams to achieve full product design (including hardware, software and firmware engineering).
• Use / develop scripts to automate the upload and download of documentation to and from Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) in a variety of formats
• Provide status and participate in management review meetings.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight of requirements-based tasking.
• Prepare presentations and brief customers during Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events, formal reviews and focus groups meetings.
• Some travel.
