Production Engineer level 2 - CNC machining

Major established and international company has an opportunity in a large plant environment commutable to the east of the Atlanta metropolitan area for a Production Engineer level 2 . ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
• Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new / revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
• Create manning plans based on volume forecasts for new programs.
• Gives input to product design based on design for manufacture / design for assembly philosophy.
• Designs, develops and tests and / or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
• Performs product / process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
• Develop and document quality system for new programs (control plan, PFMEA, process flow, work instructions, and inspection plans.)
• Coordinate and document all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities.
• Calculate required dunnage usage. Design, test and order all necessary dunnage for new programs.
• Develop and maintain documentation such as downtime, scrap, and efficiencies.
• Utilize data such as downtime, scrap, efficiencies, etc. to plan and strategize countermeasures for equipment and process problems.
• Leads or participates in Kaizen activities to ensure continuous improvement in processes, products, components, raw materials, and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS :

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

None.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Combination of office and plant environment. May be required to use safety glasses and wear steel toe shoes while performing specific tasks or while in specific manufacturing areas.

PREFERRED SKILLSETS : (Machining PE) - note though that the machining experience is required versus preferred
