The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Machine Vision/Automation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Developing creative methods for vision system data visualization and analysis
Maintaining and modifying PLC control systems including Allen Bradley, SIEMENS, and other various applications
Creating and delivering comprehensive training and troubleshooting documentation for maintenance and other personnel
Identifying, procuring, and optimizing vision systems for maximum quality, yield, and throughput
Standardizing vision system templates, procedures, and methodologies to optimize performance and minimize downtime
Specifying and commissioning new automated equipment and vision systems
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in a Science or Engineering (completed and verified prior to start)
Five (5) years of combined experience in robotics, vision systems, and/or manufacturing in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
Experience with Vision systems, PLC Programming, and data analysis/visualization such as: Process Studio, PowerBI, JMP
Three (3+) years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing and/or industrial setting with demonstrated strength in engineering/technical skills
Experience with process validation and documentation
Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage dynamic priorities
Training and experience in Lean methodology, statistics, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma
Work location:
Tonawanda, NY On-site
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
