ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT :

Deschutes County Health Services supports over 400 staff in Behavioral and Public Health programs working to promote and protect the health and safety of the community in a broad variety of community-based settings.

Deschutes County Behavioral Health (DCBH) is the Community Mental Health Program providing safety net and core clinical services for community members in Deschutes County dealing with mental health and substance use conditions. DCBH is also a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). As such, DCBH relies on multi-disciplinary teams to provide innovative, evidence-based, recovery-oriented services in behavioral healthcare settings co-located with physical health providers.

ABOUT THE JOB :

The Child, Family & Young Adult Team provides various outpatient services to a diverse group of youth and young adults ages 0-25 and their families seeking both mental health and addiction services. Clients accessing services are struggling with mental health symptoms (and possibly co-occurring substance use challenges), inhibiting their ability to effectively access daily living and often needing family support involved in their treatment.

This position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of behavioral health services designed to decrease the impact of behavioral and emotional disturbances for children, adolescents, young adults and their families. Duties include : case management; skills training; family education; and support in individual, group treatment formats to children, adolescents, and families; and care coordination. Services are provided in clinic and community settings, including schools, face-to-face and over the phone. Other duties include but are not limited to providing outreach and care coordination with community partners, medical providers, and other team members.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Case management to support connecting families with needed resources and services.
  • Skills training.
  • Clinical documentation.
  • Care coordination with multiple partner agencies.
  • Monitor progress in care and provide skills as determined by the treatment team, all while working within an integrated care team.

  • Applying theory in behavior health and addictions diagnosis and the planning of intervention programs.
  • Managing and assuring compliance to information management and client confidentiality requirements.
  • Balancing a schedule, which often requires working with several challenging situations at once.

  • Engaging with youth, young adults, and families.

    Compensation

    $5,186.61 to $6,950.54 per month for a 172.67 hour work month. Excellent County benefit package when eligible. This union-represented position is available immediately.

    BENEFITS :

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a behavioral sciences field;
  • OR any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge to perform the job.
  • There are registration / certification requirements under the Mental Health and Addiction Counseling Board of Oregon (MHACBO) that apply to Qualified Mental Health Associates (QMHA) hired by Deschutes County Health Services (DCHS). Please see website for information on these requirements :

    There is no need to take action at this point. More information will be provided to candidates who progress to the final stage of the interview process. Registration and / or certification must be received within 14 days of hire date. Fees will be paid by DCHS if the candidate selected for the position meets the criteria for registration / certification.

    Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families with a variety of mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Experience providing case management and procuring services and benefits from a variety of community-based programs.
  • Experience working with electronic health records and systems.
  • CADC and / or appropriate training, qualifications, and experience to provide SUD services.
  • Preference will be given for bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Necessary Special Requirements

    Driving is a requirement for this position. Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license within 30 days of hire date. The employment offer will be contingent upon presentation of an acceptable and verifiable driver's license, pre-employment screening for criminal history, driving history, and controlled substances (NOTE : Positive test results for marijuana use may result in rescission of a contingent offer of employment). This screening must be completed with satisfactory findings in order for a formal offer of employment to be extended.

    Must have dependable transportation and be able and willing to drive throughout Deschutes County in sometimes adverse weather conditions.

    NOTE : this position requires a Criminal Background check through the State Background Check Unit / Orchards, which may also include being fingerprinted.
