About The Position
Travel : Registered Respiratory Therapist
Lake Charles, LA
13 weeks
Shift : DAYS- 7AM-7PM unless floating to St. Patrick. The schedule changes to 6AM-6PM, Potential to be scheduled on a weekend
NICU experience is required
Unit description / expectation : Level three NICU. Needs to be able to work independently in the NICU and needs to have knowledge with ventilators, oscillations, nitric oxide therapy, drawing from arterial lines. Therapists attend all c-sections. Being able to intubate is a plus. St. Patrick Hospital is adult ICU - needs knowledge of ventilators and cardiac surgery patients. Both facilities have full standing ER.
Permanent is an option if there is an opening
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
- RT or RCP License in state of employment required-LOUISIANA
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required
- Current BLS certification required via AHA
- Current ACLS certification required via AHA
- Current PALS certification required via AHA
- Current NRP certification required
CRT candidates can be considered for this position.
Floating Requirement / Locations :
Will float between Lake Charles and St Patrick facility. Shift will change to 6PM-6AM
Nurse / Patient Ratio :
5 : 1 (5 vents to one therapist)
EMR Used : EPIC
Summary :
Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans. Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the hospital.
