WIC Dietitian (Health Program Coordinator)

Are you Registered Dietitian with the ability and skill-set to provide support to high-risk clients? The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is looking for a WIC Dietitian to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Please Note:

• This position will be a part-time, 32-hour position with benefits.
• This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days, however, this position may be eligible for fully remote status. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to high-risk (medically fragile) WIC participants
• Ensure compliance with federal regulations, policies, and procedures
• Provide support to local health department WIC Programs as a WIC Competent Professional Authority
• Support tasks required of local health department WIC agencies
• Communicate with participants via telephone, video conferencing technology, or possibly face-to-face
• Coordinating the WIC program activities, services and resources
• Monitoring and evaluation of WIC operations
• Developing policies and procedures
• Testing and recommending computer functions
• Ensuring compliance with federal regulations, policies and procedures
• Some travel to local agencies may be required

Required Requirements:

• Has successfully completed a training program approved by the State agency on the provision of WIC nutrition services to high-risk participants
• Has credentials of a Registered Dietitian (R.D.), OR eligibility for registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Commission on Dietetic Registration; if applicable, has State license or certified as a nutritionist/dietitian OR holds a Bachelor’s degree in the field of nutrition from an accredited college or university, OR holds a Master’s or Doctoral degree in nutrition from an accredited college or university.
• Meets qualifications outlined in the Dietitian Certification Act to obtain certification within the state of UtahHolds a baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate degree conferred by a college or university approved by the division at the time the degree was conferred with a major course of study in the sciences of food, dietetics, food systems management, or an equivalent major course of study;Has completed an internship or preplanned professional baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate experience in a dietetic program under the supervision of a certified dietitian who is certified under this chapter or certified, registered, or licensed under the laws of another state or territory of the United States;Has satisfactorily passed a competency examination, approved by or given at the direction of the division; andHas paid the appropriate fees determined by the Department of Commerce. The fee assessed by the Department of Commerce shall be fair and reasonable and shall reflect the cost of services provided.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Meets all requirements outlined above
• 2 years clinic experience in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program
• Understanding of WIC policy and procedures
• Experience using basic business computer software including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Good reading, writing, and verbal communication skills in English. Bilingual, in Spanish is a plus

Working Conditions:
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.


Physical Requirements:
Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
