Overview
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Recognizing its excellence in nursing care, Barnes-Jewish Hospital was the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
The Acute Dialysis Unit at Barnes-Jewish Hospital provides the latest treatments and technologies in renal replacement therapy to help patients with renal failure. The acute dialysis department has 12 dialysis bays to dialyze patients in the unit, and portable dialysis machines that enable dialysis RNs to travel throughout the hospital and provide dialysis therapy at patients' bedside, if needed. The types of renal replacement therapy we provide are : hemodialysis, CVVHDF, CVVHD, SCUF, SSED, TPE, CCPD, and CAPD. Department hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 24 hours per day. On Sundays the department RNs rotate on-call obligations.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Works under the direction of the nurse, the clinical engineer, and Leadership in the Acute Dialysis Unit. To assist nurses by preparing the treatment room (cleaning and stocking), setting up the portable Reverse Osmosis (RO) machines for bedside treatments, and transporting patients as needed.
Responsibilities
Orders and stock supplies in breakroom, nurse servers and treatment rooms daily.
Performs daily checks : crash cart, refrigerator, phoenix meters, blanket warmer, and glucometer daily.
Completes daily quality water-log record prior to first patient treatment and every four hours during dialysis treatments. Setup and breakdown portable ROs.
Assists with turning over rooms (cleaning and stocking) between treatments.
Assists with transporting patients to and / or from patient care units as needed.
