Job Description :

BHCC is currently seeking a Massachusetts Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (MAIPSE) Senior Special Program Coordinator. The MAIPSE program is a Massachusetts Department of Higher Education grants and state funded partnership between public institutions of higher education, school districts, and adult service disability agencies. Inclusive post-secondary education provides a pathway to college for young adults who are 18 and older that have an intellectual disability that significantly impacts their level of functioning, or low-functioning autism spectrum disorder, or other significant developmental disability. Students can increase their academic, social, and career outcomes by sharing the same experiences as their college peers.

The MAIPSE Senior Special Programs Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Disability Support Services, plays the lead role in the coordination and implementation of all aspects of this innovative grant, shaping the program to ensure it fulfills the purpose of providing a supportive, inclusive post-secondary environment for eligible students. During the planning grant year, (fall 2025-fall 2026) responsibilities will include, but not be limited to :

  • Developing an in-depth understanding of MAIPSE, its robust resources and establishing relationships with current MAIPSE administrators to get advice about planning effective program planning, with the goal of welcoming students into BHCC's MAIPSE program for the fall 2026-2027 academic year.
  • Traveling to local college campuses with established MAIPSE programs to learn more about effective programs and their strengths and challenges to inform the development of BHCC's program.
  • Scheduling and leading the BHCC MAIPSE Planning Committee monthly meetings to collaborate with committee members on creating BHCC processes for :

A timeline for reaching implementation readiness (fall 2026).

  • MAIPSE student eligibility.
  • Family and student outreach.
  • Establishing / strengthening local and high school partnerships.
  • Detailed planning for enrolling students during the program's first semester, creating a MAIPSE orientation in collaboration with BHCC's Student Affairs and Admissions departments.
  • Detailed planning to support high school Ed. Coaches.
  • Coordinating all outreach to key campus stakeholders surrounding educating and training about the MAIPSE program, ensuring faculty and staff are informed about the benefits of and history of MAIPSE and its best practices.
  • Building relationships across departments in support of MAIPSE students to ensure students will be connected to key campus resources. These include, but not limited to : BHCC Career Advising, Workforce Development, LifeMap Academic Advising, the Library, Tutoring Centers, Student Leadership and Engagement.
  • Working with partner high schools on identifying, recruiting and supporting Education Coaches, ensuring that these partner high schools are committed to providing qualified Education Coaches.
  • Acting as the primary contact between the student and family, college faculty and staff, the partnering school system and the educational coaches in supporting the student on campus.
  • The Program Coordinator will work closely with the student's assigned Academic Advisor, consults frequently with educational coaches, High School and special education liaisons and college faculty and staff to ensure the successful transition to college.
  • During implementation phase (fall 2026 start dependent on grant funding) Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Coordinate all MAIPSE program activities and develop comprehensive academic and co-curricular supports for students with severe intellectual disability, autism, or other developmental disability to promote access to campus life and college coursework in an inclusive setting. Eligible students are : 18-21, who are receiving transition services, or over 22, are receiving services from an adult disability agency and did not receive their high school diploma.
  • Coordinate and participate, as lead staff, in the recruitment, admissions and orientation of incoming MAIPSE students, to include : developing and updating program materials, coordinating orientation,and campus visits.
  • Serve as the liaison to participating school districts and state disability agencies.
  • Oversee academic advising to students enrolled in MAIPSE through person-centered planning. Along with Ed coaches and BHCC academic advisor, assist students in identifying course that align with personal interests and career goals. Manage programmatic support of Person-Centered Plans (PCP) for enrolled students with Education Coaches.
  • Provide educational training for district Ed Coaches to ensure students are receiving the appropriate supports to be successful in a college setting.
  • Function as the lead staff and trainer, working with faculty and staff, to support inclusive learning strategies, Universal Design techniques in support of MAIPSE students.
  • Provide professional development and training to college faculty and staff to promote the inclusion and success of MAIPSE students in the BHCC college community.
  • Identify Disability Support Services as a resource to MAIPSE students, reviewing the steps for receiving accommodations, ensuring updated individualized accommodation plans detailing academic accommodations, assistive technology needs and the development of appropriate learning strategies on campus and in the classroom are in place.
  • In collaboration with Career Services, facilitate career workshops and access to college career events for MAIPSE students.
  • Perform administrative tasks associated with the MAIPSE program, to include : collecting and reporting of statistical data and analysis, coordinate partnership and leadership team meetings, maintain student files, assist in monitoring budget expenditures and collaborate with the sending districts / special education collaborative and college administrative offices on the development and monitoring of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
  • Interact with various agencies / individuals to include :
  • attending meetings, college fairs, workshops, professional development conferences and other activities.

  • communicating with external human service agencies, high school and special education collaborative, parents, faculty members, tutors, interpreters, other academic institutions, counselors, medical providers, community agencies, vendors, the public, outside agencies and other individuals.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge in applicable areas to include maintaining a working knowledge of adaptive and assistive technology and universal design instructional approaches.
  • Serving as member and active participant in Program meetings, Department and Division staff meetings and college committees, as directed.
  • Requirements :

  • Masters degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Counseling, or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and / or training that includes college-level disability services, assessment, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) / Section 504 compliance, development of policies / procedures, teaching or curriculum development, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Additional Information :

    Salary : $70,929.00 - $76,416.00 Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC / MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Full state Benefits.

    This is a grant-funded position that will end on August 31, 2026. Continuation of the position after August 31, 2026 is contingent upon renewal and continued availability of grant funding.
