Job Description

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Must-Have :

Drive to provide the highest quality of care to laboring patients.

Ability to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities specific to patient preference.

Advanced skills in spinning babies and STABLE are helpful.

Description :

The unit has 9 labor and delivery beds, 3 swing rooms, 2 operating rooms, and 3 beds in the obstetric emergency department.

The patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 2.

Unit staffing includes a unit secretary and scrub tech, as well as a dedicated CRNA and midwife in-house 24 / 7.

An OB / GYN is available on call.

Documentation systems used are CPN and Meditech.

Staff is required to work 4 weekend shifts each month.

There is a floating policy to maternal and newborn care or outside departments.

Patient experience requirements include maintaining a satisfaction score above 75%.

The unit is certification-dependent with requirements for RN, ACLS, BLS, NRP, and fetal monitoring.

The dress code consists of hot pink and black uniforms.

Staff are encouraged to personalize birth experiences based on patient desires and needs.

Couplet care is performed in the postpartum unit to allow newborns to remain with their parents and promote breastfeeding.

The unit has an 8-bed level II NICU with a dedicated NNP available 24 / 7.

The NNP also attends all high-risk deliveries as needed.

The unit was recognized as a Unit of Distinction and participated in pilot programs for quality improvement initiatives.
